During the TACTIC project a number of field investigations have been done. One of the pilots in Denmark, Sunds, experiences very shallow groundwater level to such an extent that a shallow excavation was soon filled with intruding groundwater (Picture A). As a results, Sunds city faces serious problems with water filled basements, which may be accelerated with future climate change.
The nearby lake, lake Sunds, is an important element in the assessments carried out at this location. Several stream courses are connected to the lake, Picture B shows the outflowing stream, while the small video shows a high-flow situation at one of the inflowing streams that supplies the lake with water as flow measurements are about to be taken. Measurements from TACTIC shows that between 20-50 % of the inflowing water to the lake is groundwater.
