That “The Monolith”, a 17 meter tall sculpture in the Vigeland park, Oslo, was made from one single granite block? The stone was originally 17,4 meters long, weighing 270 tons. 121 human figures were carved into the sculpture designed by the artist Gustav Vigeland. The stone was extracted from the Iddefjorden quarry area in 1922.
